Humantay Lake Tour: A Stunning Day Trip in Peru’s Sacred Valley
Discover the beauty of Humantay Lake, one of the most breathtaking natural gems in the land of the Incas. Located along the Apu Salkantay route, Humantay Lake is a crystal-clear turquoise mirror set against the majestic backdrop of the Mollepata Mountains (Anta, Cusco).
This Humantay Lake tour is the perfect choice for outdoor lovers who may not have the time for the full Salkantay Trek, but still want to experience a memorable day trip to one of the most beautiful spots in Cusco.
Start your unforgettable adventure with an early morning pick-up at your hotel in Cusco. The tour begins between 04:30 AM and 05:00 AM as we embark on a scenic 2.5-hour drive to the village of Mollepata. Here, we will stop at the checkpoint to register our personal details before continuing our journey to Soraypampa, located at an elevation of 3800 meters above sea level.
Once in Soraypampa, we’ll begin our 3 km hike towards Humantay Lake. Along the way, enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes and the towering Salkantay Mountain.
Breakfast stop: After a 30-minute walk, we will be greeted by our chef, who will serve a nutritious breakfast to fuel us for the hike ahead.
Continue the hike: Following breakfast, we will continue trekking towards Humantay Lake. The path is uphill and will take approximately 60 minutes to 1 hour to reach the top, where we will be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of snow-capped mountains, diverse flora and fauna, and awe-inspiring natural beauty.
Humantay Lake: Upon arrival at Humantay Lake, located at 4200 meters above sea level, take time to soak in the serene beauty of the turquoise waters, surrounded by towering mountains. Don’t forget to snap some photos of this magical landscape.
Return Journey: After a restful break, we will begin our descent back to Soraypampa, where our driver will transfer to Mollepata tow for lunch, our cooks treat us to a delicious and restorative lunch.
Departure: After lunch, we will begin the journey back to Cusco, arriving approximately at 6:00 PM to conclude this unforgettable day.
